JAY ELECTRONICA

I’ve got love for Jay Electronica. The homie follows me on Twitter, how could I not?

1) Dealing- Jay Electronica

It’s so rare to find a spectacular lyricist who has the ability to make a splash in the mainstream but I believe Jay to be in that rarified air. This rap is no different. The Marvin Gaye sampling, the unbelievable lyrics, and that effortlessly smooth flow. Jay Elec has weapons in his arsenal.

COOKIN’ SOUL WEEK DAY 4

Here you go. The Best two Nas Cookin’ Soul Remixes.

1) Thugz Mansion (Cookin’ Soul Remix)- Nas feat 2pac

This is one of my All-time fav Cookin Soul remixes simply because of the sampling. Never has Kool and the Gang’s Summer Madness been sampled so creatively and effectively before in a song. You must download this.

COOKIN’ SOUL WEEK (DAY 2)

Among Cookin’ Soul’s New York State of Mind ReMixtape  were two smash hits from G-Unit’s debut album, Beg for Mercy. These two tracks stand out amongst the best on the ReMixtape, and on Cookin Soul Week Day 2, they are here in all their glory for your downloading purposes.

1) Stunt 101 (Cookin Soul Remix)- G Unit

Another track by Cookin’ Soul which arguably surpasses the original, this Stunt 101 remix, coupled with the post below, should give you a taste of what is in store in terms of Cookin’ Soul’s sound and range. The 1980s samples, the flares, the layers, it’s all there. The production value of these tracks are astounding, and deserve due credit.

2) Poppin Them Thangs

I guess the best word to describe CS’s remixes is “Smooth”. that is exactly what they are. they are smooth, soulful versions of the original. With better exposure they would be a hip-hop renaissance.

HAPPY COOKIN’ SOUL WEEK!

Cookin’ Soul. THE BEST Remixers in the Game.

They are a trio of DJs from Valencia who bring an unbelievable level of production style and soul to your favorite American Hip-Hop tracks. They are so good that they deserve their own week. So happy Cookin’ Soul Week everybody! I’ll be sharing some of my favorite Cookin’ Soul Tracks all week.

1) What Up Gangsta? (Cookin’ Soul Remix) -5o Cent

Arguably my favorite Cookin’ Soul Remix of them all, this beat puts such a unique, soulful spin on a hardcore classic that you cannot dislike it. Perhaps it is the fact that it is such a different sound than the original and it still works, perhaps it is the fact that the beat makes this the perfect song to spark an L to, whatever it may be, you will love it.

Baby Jay-Z

This Jay-Z cut dates all the way back to 1995. featuring verses from Mic Geronimo, DMX, and Ja-Rule. It’s wonderful to hear these young kiddies kicking flows, and Jay-Z in his rawest form before the release of Reasonable Doubt. These guys cared so much of their lyrics as opposed to appealing to the mainstream. peep.

BANNED FROM TV

I gained a little bit of culture today, when an anonymous poster informed me that the beat from my previous post was indeed a 1999 classic from the BX’s finest, Noriega aka N.O.R.E

here is the song for your aural pleasure.

1) Banned From TV (feat Big Pun, Cam’Ron, The Lox, and Nature)- Noriega

The beat is money, Big Pun is, in my mind, the third best MC ever behind Big and Jay, and obviously the Lox are fire, how can you go wrong with it.
